Jennifer Rene Psaki (American political advisor) was the 34th White House secretary. She held the post from 2021 until 2022. She is a member of the Democratic Party and previously served as the White House deputy Press Secretary (2009) as well as the White House deputy Communications Director (2009-2011), the spokesperson for US Department of State (2013-15) and as the White House communications direct (2015-17). Psaki contributed to CNN's politics coverage from 2017 through 2020. Psaki started her professional career in 2001 with the re-election campaigns for Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin for the U.S. Senate and Tom Vilsack for governor. Psaki was later appointed as the deputy press secretary for John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004. Psaki was in office from 2005 until 2006 as communications director to Joseph Crowley, U.S. representative, as well as as the regional press secretary to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Psaki returned in 2012 to the field of political communications, serving as press secretary for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. [20] Psaki was named as spokesperson for the United States Department of State on February 11 13. The speculations that she would replace Jay Carney White House Press secretary after he left the White House[21] were fuelled by her hire by the Department of State. However, Josh Earnest was announced as the replacement for Carney on May 30, 2014. In 2015, she returned to the White House as communications director and remained until the close of the Obama administration.
